When we were young, most of us dreamed about changing the World. If you are young, you are still dreaming about changing the World. I am older and things have changed and I have watched the World change, mostly without much input from me on the grand scale of things.

Don't kid yourself. You make a difference. Every day, we associate with our family, and our co-workers. You either provided them with positive or negative comments. You either made them feel good about themselves or bad about themselves.

Everyone makes a difference in the lives of the people that we are around today. I made a positive influence in the lives of most everyone that I came in contact with today.

A few years ago, I worked at a College and one of the Professors was pretty much a "sour puss". It seemed as if everyone would go out of their way to avoid meeting him in a hall way or riding with him in an elevator. When I happened to meet him in a hallway, he would almost always criticize something about my work or my appearance. I began to avoid meeting him. Suddenly it occurred to me that this Professor probably needed encouragement and a smile just like all of the rest of us. I stopped avoiding him and actually would change directions to meet him. I would start smiling, say hello, ask him if my appearance and my work had improved. I have to confess that he did not change his demeanor right away. However after a couple of weeks, he began to smile when he saw me walking towards him in the hall, he became more talkative, and either my appearance improved or he decided that it did not need improving.

The moral to this story is that we all make a difference. Help some one. Smile at someone. Talk to someone. Let's create an avalanche of optimism, and spread smiles to everyone that we meet. Let's show compassion and give encouragement to everyone who has the good fortune to appear on our turf.

May Happiness and Prosperity follow you all the days of your life.
