They will also help to keep your bedroom cool if you keep them closed during the day, particularly if you have south facing windows or in the centre of a city. Blackout lining doesn't have to be black, if fact it's usually cream or white, so it won't spoil the appearance of your curtains.<br /><br />You could also use <a href="http://www.terrysfabrics.co.uk/cat/ready-made-voiles/">voile panels</a> to make a modern style mosquito net to place around your bed – at least you won't be 'eaten alive' even if you do find yourselves tossing and turning all night and can't get to sleep!<br /><br />Image: Decorations Millenium Interior Design Blog

Practical Window Dressing Or Not?

If you have, maybe you'd like to try this new window dressing concept of having only one curtain hung from a short <a href="http://www.terrysfabrics.co.uk/cat/curtain-poles/">curtain pole</a>!<br /><br />We have all seen one large curtain which is wept to one side and held in place with a tieback, however this new look is totally different as only one half of the window can ever have a curtain pulled across it.<br /><br />This may be innovative but is it really practical? I suppose the answer depends on whether your room is overlooked. If it's not them this style is certainly worth considering and is ideal for a single curtain panel of organza, voile curtains or lightweight natural linen fabric.<br /><br />You have to admit that the idea would certainly solve many window dressing dilemmas and if you were over-looked by neighbours you could also use cheap blinds in a complimentary colour which can be pulled down at night and not interfere with the curtain panel.<br /><br />Team with your duvet sets and you can transform a bedroom into a very chic style which looks far nicer than trying to get a curtain to hang properly behind a piece of furniture! What I do love are the natural colours used along with the subtle injections of green, another very natural colour.<br /><br />A clever room design which one would feel somehow 'not quite at home with'! <br /><br />Inspiring? Yes, definitely.<br /><br />Suitable for all homes and people, definitely not!<br /><br />It would be the ideal and in some ways quintessential country manor style home, which although many people may aspire to living in, as it depicts such a peaceful, tranquil setting, it reality it is not the 'average' person's home interior design style.<br /><br />It has the personal touches in the choice of objects placed on the mantle piece and a tempting bowl of apples, which I would be 'scared' to take and eat and for the apples are not for eating, purely to add to the natural green into the room!<br /><br />So why did I select this room?...because it fascinates me in a strange and wonderful way, which is the whole point of good interior designs, it makes you want to keep looking!<br /><br />Image: <a href="http://desiretoinspire.blogspot.com/">Desire To Inspire</a>

It is also a great neutral colour which can provide the opportunity to inject colour in subtle ways through the clever integration of soft furnishings and floor coverings.<br /><br />Soft white leather sofas and chairs provide chic elegance which can have a multitude of cushions placed onto them to bring colour into a room.<br /><br />Flooring is another great way to include colour. Gorgeous modern designs which have soft colours can transform the look of a room as well as offering a soft, warm touch and feel to a room.<br /><br />Keep things simple so that accent pieces are not detracted from. Clutter free is a must along with beautiful and unusual lighting. High ceilings lend themselves brilliantly to modern chandelier deigns to add a touch of understated elegance.<br /><br />Beautiful light weight voile curtains are the perfect way to let a multitude of natural light into the room.
