Thanksgiving is a day to celebrate flowy tops and elastic waist bands. It's a true American holiday: eat until you can't eat anymore. Many people I know have a more casual Thanksgiving, but then there are the questions of what can I wear that will let my full belly be comfortable and what will be cute and appropriate for a family occasion?
I have 3 different outfits to answer such questions. I have a casual (Dinner and Football), semi-formal (Kinda Casual) and the actual formal (Fancy Tableware, Fancy Dress) outfit ideas.

Dinner and Football
The key to a casual Thanksgiving is to look cute without trying. I love the black and yellow mix right now. The dark top with the happy bright sweater adds to the Chi of the meal and of the holiday; in the darkness of winter you'll bring warmth and joy to the home. To make your outfit have a more dressed-up feel, pick a detailed top and a sparkly necklace.

If you're wearing jeans, make sure you wear a pair that doesn't require a belt. Just avoid anything that is tight around the middle area of your body. I recommend jeggings because they make your legs look great and typically you don't have to wear a belt. Also, when wearing a flowy or big top, you should wear a tight bottom or vice versa if wearing a tight top, then go for a boot-cut or flare jean.

Kinda Casual

If your crazy aunt tells you that the dress code for Thanksgiving is going to be a little different and she says it's going to be semi-formal this year, inside you really know she really means formal.  The goal is to not overdress and to still make your aunt happy. To reach this goal, mix rich colors with cotton and find a pretty delicate top and classy essentials to finish the look. And, of course, dress for comfort. This elastic waist skirt and loose-fitting top allows for both breathing and eating room.

A cranberry skirt is perfect for the holidays because of its versatility. Plus, it fits right in with the season's style. Tulip style skirts and dresses add some sex appeal, showing a little more leg than normal hem-lines. A delicate lace top is another hot style this season and the beige color gives endless options and ways to mix and match with other items already in your closet. A black blazer adds a classy touch, but the chain necklace creates a rough edge to such a feminine outfit. I included a link to this shirt below. Always do a photo check with any thin shirt or lace design that doesn't have an undershirt. With the photo check you can see if the flash does the unexpected: a wardrobe malfunction at a family gathering.

Fancy Tableware, Fancy Dress
This look can be used for any formal holiday event this season. It has a little sparkle and a lot of easy, ready-to-wear appeal. Throw on a pair of heels to show off the hours you've put in at the gym. Just because it's cold out doesn't mean you can't be hot. In the Thanksgiving aspect, this dress is made of cotton and has stretch, again adding to comfort to a full belly. The horizontal stripes are tricky though. Some people have the idea that stripes are not good for a bigger person because they bring out curves in the wrong places. With this design, it actually makes a person look smaller because of the layers of fabric.

To top off a beautiful dress, throw on a sequin sweater for holiday sparkle. With that, you are set to gobble down on some turkey, "ho ho ho" the night away or celebrate the new year with Dick Clark.
